When and why did you join Junction Fitness?
I joined in June of 2021. The reason why is sort of a culmination of things, but can be summed up with me just wanting to regain a healthy relationship with my body and food.
What is your favorite thing about Junction Fitness?
The biggest one, for me, is that the workouts are already planned out and you have coaches that are educated and there to push you/cheer you on. It is honestly so motivating for me and a big part of the reason why it’s easy to be committed to coming regularly.
Why did you decide to get healthy?
I had put on quite a bit of weight in a relatively short amount of time because of really bad eating habits and having a more sedentary lifestyle than I ever had before. But beyond just the physical, I was starting to have slight high blood pressure, water retention, and a couple other relatively minor health occurrences. It was nothing I was on medication for and my doctor wasn’t too concerned, but I just really got to a point where I was like “I’m way too young to be having to worry about these issues” and I knew it was all a result of my choices (and would continue to get worse) so I got serious about changing it.
Why is it important for you to stay healthy?
At the beginning of this journey it was mostly all about the physical element, I think it’s usually the most prevalent especially for women. And of course I knew that I had some pounds I wanted to shed, but the more I did it the more I realized how much of an all around difference it was making in my life. I started having more energy, I was able to correct a lot of the unhealthy habits I had developed around food, I have a better outlook and attitude about things, and I’m genuinely more joyful in my day to day life than I had been for quite some time.
How is X4 different from other fitness programs you have done?
As I mentioned above, it’s just such a convenience to be able to just have to wake up, get dressed, and come to the gym. The other gyms I had joined before weren’t like that and I was struggling with the planning aspect and never felt like I would get a quality workout. Along with that, X4 is a lot faster paced and higher intensity than anything I have done before which always leaves me knowing I worked hard.
What keeps you coming back to X4 and Junction Fitness?
Again, the convenience and style of the workouts and wanting to be healthy.. But also the community here, for sure. I’ve met a lot of new people, which I love because I’m what I like to call an extra-extravert, that have become friends and encouragers. And that also applies to the coaches who have given me advice and always actually seem to care about my progress and overall well-being.
Why have you entrusted Junction Fitness and its coaches to help you on your fitness journey?
I feel that they are knowledgeable and work really hard to make sure we aren’t hurting ourselves or overdoing it in the gym. Plus ensuring we learn correct form so we can get the most out of our time there and not increase our chances of injury or burnout.
What goals have you achieved since becoming a part of the community at Junction Fitness?
Well, a big win for me is recently hitting 17 lbs lost, which is super close to my overall goal of losing 20 lbs. But, again, a bigger win for me is the mentality and happiness that have come from this that have overflowed to all aspects of my life.
Who would you encourage to try Junction Fitness?
I feel like everyone says this, but seriously anyone. Because of the qualities of our coaches and workouts, there are literally people in all different stages of their journey and who have all different goals of fitness that come to our gym. You don’t have to come into it already knowing everything or having to go full out. You are encouraged to go at your own pace and ability and work to build that as time goes on. It’s really cool to have that aspect.
Why do you think it is important to share your story with others in the Junction
Like anything, people need to know that they aren’t the only ones. Not the only ones struggling, not the only ones working towards a goal, and definitely not the only ones who need somewhere that is safe, uplifting, and genuine in regards to fitness. If one person can feel better from hearing my story (not because I’m doing it all right or to boast about myself), then I will be grateful because that’s what I needed to be able to get back.
What are your goals for 2022?
Honestly, just to stay committed and consistent. I do have other small goals but I’ve always wanted this to be a lifestyle change that I can see through for the long haul, not just a quick fix or way to lose weight and then quit. It’s definitely not always easy getting up early 4 or 5 times a week, but I know it’s worth it and I feel prepared to carry this out with the new changes I have made and tools I have gathered. I am excited to see what else is in store!
