Member Spotlight: Cherie Walters

Slangin' mortgage loans AND weights. That is what you can catch this month's member spotlight, Cherie Walters, doing on the daily! Committing to exercise every day is already a tough task, but committing to exercise every day at 6am, that takes a higher level of dedication. Cherie has been a staple at Junction Fitness and we have noticed over the last year that she has dedicated herself to being healthy. Working hard isn't anything new to her and we can tell every time she comes to workout. We are proud to have Cherie a part of our Junction Fitness community and we can't wait to see what the future holds for her in the gym, and out. See our interview with Cherie below!

When and why did you join Junction Fitness?

I had a few friends that attended and after attending a few classes it felt like home. 

What is your favorite thing about Junction Fitness?

The ability to attend different classes daily. I can go to CrossFit one day and X⁴ the next. I am not confined to one or the other and both programs are great in their own ways!

Why did you decide to get healthy?

Funny thing is, I was living in oblivion because I felt like I was kinda healthy and at an okay weight but I got tired of hearing people say “Cherie is too fancy to do that” “Cherie can’t open that or carry that”  so… I decided to join CROSSFIT and prove them all wrong and that’s where I learned I was the opposite and not even close to healthy. 


Do you join a specific class every day? Why? 

Well, for now I have been doing X⁴ because it gives me cardio and weights! I like that I get both.

Why is it important for you to stay healthy?

Well at this point it would be way too expensive to buy a new wardrobe lol!! Seriously, because it’s the best feeling in the world to be healthy. 

How has adding X⁴ at Junction Fitness helped you in your fitness journey?

I see myself stronger and my cardio has improved drastically. X⁴ is also good because sometimes you do certain body parts the whole time and get a good burn so it makes me feel like I am working certain muscle groups hard.

What motivates you to keep coming back to Junction Fitness? 

Becoming my old self lol! Not able to do a squat without a box, out of breath with in 10min of warming up, and 6sizes larger than I am now. 

Why have you entrusted Junction Fitness and it’s coaches to help you on your fitness journey? 

Because I see the care they have for each of their members. They show up daily and push us! We need them and I believe they hold that with a high regard.

What goals have you achieved since becoming a part of the community at Junction Fitness? Being able to do wall walks, push ups, kip swing, faster mile, box jumps(when I have to lol)

How have the people at Junction Fitness help motivate/encourage you? 

Just having a community of people that have the same goal in mind has motivated me to do better. Seeing others striving to be a better version of themselves is important and friendly competition is always fun. 

Why do you think it is important to share your story with others in the Junction Fitness community? 

Well, we all don’t see or know each other on the same level because the classes we attend may be different so by sharing this story the community can now know MY story and not just a face they see in passing or on a Facebook post. 🙌💪😃 If you don't go to Junction Fitness yet, you really need to give it a shot. People sometimes think that CrossFit or HIIT workouts are scary but it really isn't. It's fun to challenge yourself and although you may not be able to certain movements, if you stick with it, you can surprise yourself on much you can progress!
