Why did you join Junction Fitness?
I joined junction fitness because I was ready to take my life back into my hands and do something for myself. I had been busy going to college, being a mom, working, and serving in the navy. Everything had all taken a toll on me and I always felt tired and unhappy. I was at a transitional point in my life where I had a chance to just take the leap in joining junction fitness and I am forever grateful for walking through that door.
What is your favorite thing about Junction Fitness?
I love the encouragement and energy everyone brings to the table. It makes training exciting and something to look forward to.
You started out doing X⁴ before you started doing CrossFit. Did starting with X⁴ give you the confidence to try CrossFit?
Absolutely! Once I started to get a little comfortable with x4, it gave me the confidence to seek a little more outside of my comfort zone and try CrossFit. My future sister in-law has done CrossFit for years and I had always been in awe of her strength. She’s tiny like me and inspired me to give it a try. I had always wanted to lift weights but never knew where to start or how to. The coaches at junction fitness have made the learning experience so enjoyable and worthwhile.
Why is it important for you to be healthy?
It is important to me because I have a degree of control over my own health. I want to have the best outcome possible for my life and health. If I cannot take care of myself then I cannot take care of my children, patients, and others near and dear to me.
If you had a favorite part of X⁴, what would it be?
There are too many! But… My two most favorite things would be the variation and the energy the coaches bring. I get bored easily with workouts and I have yet to do the same exact workout in x4.
Had you done any working out prior to coming to Junction Fitness?
Growing up I swam competitively for 10 years and continued to do so into adulthood. I also worked out here and there at home using beachbody and my treadmill but found myself bored quickly and falling off my training routine.
What are some goals that you have achieved while being at Junction Fitness?
Goals I have reached are coming consistently (especially on the days when I’m just not feeling it), my first ever rope climb, wall walk ups, and toes to bar were pretty awesome moments in my book. The first time I had seen the movements I thought “I could never do that.” I turned those negative thoughts into goals and continue to make new ones as time progresses.
Who would you encourage to try Junction Fitness?
I would encourage anyone and everyone to try junction fitness. The two methods are truly tailored to you and can be modified to fit your fitness and strength level. The vibe is upbeat and everyone is super friendly and encouraging. If you are looking for a supportive family to help you reach your fitness goals, junction fitness is the place to go!
Why do you think it is important to share your story with others in the Junction
I think it is important to share my story because someone else may relate to me and decide to take a positive leap to grasp a hold of their life to become a better version of themselves as well.
What is your biggest motivator to get in shape?
My biggest motivator to get into shape is my desire to be the best version of myself and set good examples for my kids.
Being a nurse is hard and you have a hard schedule. How do you balance that while also having children?
My motto is fake it til you make it lol. In all seriousness, I literally plan my days out to make everything work plus I have a strong support system who believes in me and understands that success and accomplishment takes hard work and dedication. My family happily steps in to support and help care for my kiddos when I am not able to do so. I honestly could not do this life without them.
What are your goals for 2022?
My goals are to do 1 unassisted pull-up, get stronger, and inspire someone to step out of their comfort zone and do something great for others and/or themselves.
